New Work - Burghley Park, Stamford
My new work was influenced by the need to find a peaceful, beautiful place near water to recover from a recent traumatic bereavement. I needed to immerse myself in a subject I could lose myself in and just paint and explore the technical challenges of painting water in particular.
So I ventured to Burghley Park in Stamford, somewhere that has been a special place to me since I was a young teenager. I was able to tuck myself in a quiet corner and begin my research, resolving to make at least four visits during the year to make a visual record of the changing seasons. This is an ongoing series.
